Local-first design: why scripts stay on your device

Many apps for creators depend on cloud sync — your content lives on a server, and the app is a window into that server. Teleprompter-Scrolling Scripts takes the opposite approach. Scripts are written to your device's local storage the moment you save them and never leave the device unless you explicitly export or share them.

This design has two practical benefits. First, reliability: you can record in a studio with no Wi-Fi, on location with no cell signal, or in any environment where connectivity is unavailable or unreliable, and the app works exactly the same way it does at home. Second, privacy: your script content is not transmitted to any third-party server. Draft announcements, product launches, and confidential briefings stay on your device.

What works offline

Every core feature of Teleprompter-Scrolling Scripts works without an internet connection:

• Script creation and editing — write, paste, and edit scripts with no connection required.
• Camera mode recording — record video on iPhone, iPad, or Mac while your script scrolls. Videos save to your local camera roll or Photos app.
• Prompter mode script display — display your script full-screen near an external camera with no internet needed.
• Scroll speed, font size, and layout settings — all configurable offline and saved locally.
• Voice scroll control — start, pause, and adjust scroll with voice commands without any network connection.

There is no loading spinner, no "waiting for sync," and no reduced functionality when you are offline. The experience is identical to using the app with an active connection.

What requires internet

Two things in Teleprompter-Scrolling Scripts require an internet connection:

• Initial App Store download — downloading the app from the App Store requires a connection. Once installed, no ongoing connection is needed.
• Premium purchase — in-app purchases are processed through the App Store, which requires internet access at the time of purchase. After purchase, Premium features remain available offline.

The browser-based version at teleprompter.works/online is a separate product that runs in your browser — it requires an active internet connection because it loads as a web page. If you need offline functionality, use the native iPhone, iPad, or Mac app instead.
